POLYCURE AQUAPRO 2770 Water Based Pigment Stain

AQUAPRO 2770 is a premium water-based pigment stain formulated to produce a consistent, uniform colour while softening the natural grain definition of timber. It creates an attractive colour-washed or limed appearance and is available in a range of white and pastel shades for achieving contemporary lime wash effects.

Suitable for interior timber surfaces, AQUAPRO 2770 can be applied to timber floors, architraves, skirting boards, timber quadrants, beading, and other interior timber joinery. It is compatible with all timber species and can be top coated with AQUAPRO water-based finishes, DURAPOL moisture cure coatings, POLYTHANE two-pack finishes, NATUROIL oil finishes, and FASTASEAL sealers.

Surface Preparation:

Always prepare a test area to confirm colour suitability and application technique.

Fill nail holes and surface imperfections using a water-based timber putty matched to the desired stain colour. Allow the filler to dry completely before sanding.

Prepare the timber surface in accordance with AS 4786.2-2005 standards to achieve a clean, defect-free, and scratch-free finish. Final sanding should be completed using 120–180 grit screen-back paper fitted to a rotary sanding machine.

Ensure the surface is free from scratches and imperfections, as these may become more noticeable after staining.

Mixing:

Stir thoroughly before and during use to maintain colour consistency.

Application:

Prepare sufficient stain for the entire project before commencing and mix thoroughly to ensure colour uniformity.

For strip flooring, work along the direction of the timber grain. Begin from one corner and progress methodically across the floor. Cut in only a short distance ahead of the applicator. Do not pour or allow the stain to pool on the surface. Any excess stain must be removed by wiping.

For parquetry floors, apply the stain evenly across the narrowest section of the floor, working side-to-side until the entire area has been covered.

Uniform application is essential to achieve an even and consistent colour. Allow the stain to dry thoroughly before applying the selected top coat, following the recommended recoat times.

Apply an adequate sealer coat to encapsulate the stain and minimise the risk of sanding through during subsequent coating stages. Should sanding expose bare timber, the stain can be reapplied locally to restore colour before recoating.
