Fiddes Nitro Stains are premium oil-based, penetrating wood stains formulated to enhance the natural beauty of timber while providing rich, even colour. Designed primarily for timber flooring, they are also suitable for furniture, joinery, and other interior timber surfaces.
Available in a wide range of colours, Nitro Stains can be blended together to create custom shades. Fiddes Nitro Clear/Thinners can also be added to lighten colours or adjust the intensity, while also serving as an effective cleaner for application tools and accessories.
Ideal for use beneath Fiddes Hard Wax Oil and Fiddes Lacquers, these stains penetrate deeply into the timber to produce a consistent, long-lasting finish with excellent colour depth.

Note: Final colour may vary depending on the timber species, surface preparation, and application method. Always test on a small, inconspicuous area before full application.
Application
Stir the contents well and always check the shade before application.
Rolled On Method – For a deep colour, roll out the stain evenly using a 10mm microfibre roller in the direction of the grain working out a few boards/areas at a time. Use a paint brush to blend the end boards and leave.
Buffed In Method – For a lighter two-toned effect use a SLOW speed buffing machine (175RPM) with Fiddes Buffing Cloth or like material on a pad. Pour the stain directly onto the pad and buff in evenly. Brush the stain on the edges and rag off the excess.
Wipe on/Wipe off Method – Take a clean, lint free cotton cloth or sponge and apply in the direction of the wood grain where possible. Take care to remove any excess stain immediately with a separate, clean absorbent cloth, again following the direction of the grain pattern. To obtain a uniform colour, always wipe evenly, blending the stain over the whole surface area by exerting a degree of pressure when applying by hand. Leave to dry, and do not sand between coats.
The application of additional coats will deepen the existing colour/shade.
