POLYCURE DURAPOL 5841-1 Silky Matt 5L 10%

DURAPOL® 5841-1 Silky Matt is a premium single-pack, moisture-curing polyurethane floor finish designed for interior timber, parquetry, particleboard, and cork flooring. It provides a highly durable, abrasion-resistant surface with a smooth, elegant matt finish that enhances the natural beauty of timber.

Unlike traditional coating systems, DURAPOL® 5841-1 can be applied as a complete moisture-curing system, allowing it to be used as both a sealer and topcoat. Its excellent inter-coat adhesion, superior flow and levelling properties, and ease of application make it ideal for both residential and commercial flooring projects.

Surface Preparation

Proper preparation is essential to achieve the best results.

Fill all nail holes and imperfections with a suitable water-based timber putty and allow to dry completely.

Sand uncoated timber floors using 120–150 grit sandpaper or screen-back abrasive on a flexible pad to achieve a uniformly dull, defect-free surface free from scratches, nibs, fluff, or fur. Vacuum thoroughly and take care to avoid scratching the prepared surface.

Mixing

Stir thoroughly before use to ensure a consistent finish.

Application Tools

• 6mm nap roller or applicator
• High-quality brush for cutting in edges and skirting boards

Application

Timber Floor System:

1. Apply a liberal first coat of DURAPOL® 5841-1 Silky Matt or FASTASEAL® 3030, 3535, or 3540 Sealer using a 6mm mohair roller and quality brush for edges.
2. If using FASTASEAL®, allow to dry for approximately 45 minutes before sanding. For other coatings, allow to dry overnight (minimum 8 hours, maximum 24 hours).
3. Apply a second coat of DURAPOL® 5841-1 Silky Matt and allow to dry overnight (8–24 hours).
4. Sand thoroughly using 150–180 grit sandpaper or screen-back abrasive to remove nibs, fluff, and surface imperfections. Vacuum all dust.
5. Apply the final coat of DURAPOL® 5841-1 Silky Matt.

Final Finish

Produces a durable, highly abrasion-resistant silky matt finish that enhances the natural appearance of timber while providing long-lasting protection for interior flooring applications.
